Dorchester Open Studios Registration Now Available 
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Dorchester Arts Collaborative (DAC) is pleased to announce that
registration for Dorchester Open Studios has begun. The deadline for
registration is July 31, 2006, and the event will be held October 21 & 22,
2006. For artists who don't live at our four existing artist studio/gallery
buildings (African Winter, Baker, Humphreys, and Pearl/Ahimsa) we have
secured space at First Parish Church and the Codman Square Great Hall. 
Please note that members of the Dorchester Arts Collaborative get 20% off
the registration fee. You can get a one-year membership to the DAC for FREE
if you register before June 30, 2006. For a list of benefits and

Joe Wheelwright Artist Talk Mon. June 12, 7:00 p.m.

June 12, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. - Art Talk, Humphreys St. Studios, 11 Humphreys

Sculptor Joe Wheelwright, who was recently commissioned to create a public
art installation in Peabody Square/Ashmont, will talk about his work, as
well as the commission and proposal for this site. Wheelwright is a master
carver of stones, trees, bones and other natural materials, and one of his
works will be cast in bronze for this project. He is also lives in
Dorchester. The talk takes place at his large work space, which is filled
with great examples of his work, at Humphreys Street Studios. Refreshments

Workshop: How to Have a Successful Open Studios, Mon. June 19, 6:00 p.m. 
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
June 19, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. - Workshop, How to Have a Successful Open Studios,
Great Hall, Codman Square, 6 Norfolk St. (corner of Talbot). $5 admission,
FREE to DAC members.

DAC has teamed up with the Mayor's Boston Business Assistance Center and the
Artists Foundation to present a practical workshop designed to teach visual
artists how to get the most out of the open studios experience. The workshop
is targeted to first-time exhibitors, but will also be useful to event
veterans. The session will be led by Liora Beer, Business Manager/Arts &
Culture Specialist for the Boston Business Assistance Center, operated by
the Department of Neighborhood Development, and Kathleen Bitetti, Executive
Director of the Artist Foundation. Refreshments will be served, and
Dorchester Open Studios registration forms will be available. Reservations

DACmail

The Dorchester Arts Collaborative maintains the DACmail list, an email list
devoted to the arts in Dorchester. DACmail contains artist opportunities,

First Fridays Breakfast Club 
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DAC hosts the First Friday Breakfast Club, the first Friday of every month
at 8:30 a.m. at Gerard's in Adams Village. The is an informal gathering of
artists and those interested in the arts in Dorchester, designed to
encourage socializing and the exchange of ideas. Sometimes we have guest
speakers. To be added to the evite list to be reminded of breakfasts, email
