Project Description
SCI Dorchester is pleased to announce plans for expanding its weekly e-communication - the Dorchester e-Blast and on-line community calendar - to every home, office and public access facility in the Dorchester community. In an effort to achieve this goal, SCI Dorchester has partnered with the Dorchester Board of Trade, Dorchester CARES and the Dorchester Reporter.
As you know, Dorchester has rich history, historic homes, great parks, annual traditions, a sundry of restaurants, and numerous sources for Dorchester residents to access resources and services in the community -but no central local for doing so. The Guide Project will provide residents and community- based organizations alike with, not only, a central location for accessing information in the Dorchester community, but develop sustainable, community bridging solutions for individuals and non-profits to contribute and share information. The Guide Project will also promote the Dorchester's thriving business districts while connecting citizens to opportunities to get involved in the community through the development of two central sources: the Dorchester Handbook and the SCI Dorchester community website.
The on-line community website will be a clearinghouse of information to help enable individuals and groups to become more involved in the community and will support the work of community organizations and agencies throughout Dorchester. helping them to render service more effectively, and creating the opportunity to connect people with different resources. The website will provide cutting- edge technology, interactive features and sustainable solutions.
The Dorchester Handbook, the first official neighborhood guide, will welcome new and connect existing residents to the best of Dorchester. This print version will be distributed across the Dorchester community. The Honorary and Steering Committee is currently drafting a support kit for the Guide Project. To receive information about advertising and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Marisa Coleman at 617-474-1422 or mcoleman at scidorchester.org.
