Hi all-

Don't miss the party of the year right here in Dorchester this Thursday!
WCBS TV talk show host Rev. Liz Walker and folk singing icon Livingston
Taylor will inspire and entertain. Vocal powerhouse Katani (Boston Pops,
House of Blues, back up to Mariah Carey) will open the night with an
ensemble.

There are still a limited number of concert tickets available for The
Boston Home's 125th Anniversary Celebration / Campaign for Care
fundraising gala concert on Thursday 11/9 at UMass Boston's Campus
Center Ballroom at 7 p.m. The concert will end with a celebratory Happy
Birthday, with cupcakes and coffee for all. Tickets are $85 and
available at www.thebostonhome.org or at the door.

This is the Boston Home's first big fundraiser in its 125 year history,
and hundreds of supporters will be there.

We do need *5 more volunteers with an artistic eye *who can give at
least 2 hours during the day (between 9 and 7) at UMass to help us set
up, decorate, and register folks. If you volunteer, you will get to see
the show for free! Please call 617-216-6217 and leave a message with
your availability.

This is a chance to celebrate an outstanding Dorchester institution that
knows from experience how great a role art plays in bringing meaning to
our lives. Among their many activities, the residents have weekly art
lessons with Dorchester artist Susan Krause, and the Boston Home hosts
an annual "At Home with the Arts" exhibition and sale in the spring.

The Boston Home is a specialized care residence for 96 adults with
advanced Multiple Sclerosis and other progressive neurological diseases
and in 2005 was named the "standard of care for adults with advanced MS"
by the National MS Society. The Boston Home, located on a beautiful
campus on Dorchester Ave. just south of Ashmont Station, is a true
Dorchester gem and the only facility of its kind in New England. It
recently launched The Boston Home Institute to train healthcare
professionals from around the country. For those living at home with MS
and other progressive neurological diseases, the new Boston Home
Outreach Services has an innovative day program, B.Fit!, which promotes
wellness through peer support, socialization, and functional activity.
If you know anyone with MS, Parkinson's, or ALS, please let them know
about The Boston Home (www.thebostonhome.org). It's a place that is all
about "enabling the body, stimulating the mind, and nurturing the
spirit" of its residents, whose average age is 54.

Please join me in the celebrations!
