Resident Artist
 
The goal of the Resident Artist Project is to enable older adults to have
concrete visual arts experiences to increase their sense of well-being by
introducing new and stimulating leisure pursuits, fostering a creative
spirit, enhancing self-esteem, and developing new skills.
.  The Resident Artist will lead older adults from diverse cultural and
linguistic backgrounds in visual art experiences.  He or she will:
*         Introduce the tools and materials of visual art and teach art to
seniors of diverse backgrounds and of varied or limited previous arts
education and experience.
*         Lead field trips that enhance learning experiences for older
adults.  
*         Coordinate an end-of-the-project exhibit of the art produced.
 
This is an eleven-month position from November 2006 to September 2007 for up
to 60 sessions.  Sessions will last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours and will be
held on weekday afternoons from 1 PM to 3 PM usually at Kit Clark’s
headquarters, 1500 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02122.  The Resident
Artist will be paid $100 per session.
 
Qualifications include:
1)      Teaching experience, ideally, with adults and interest in teaching.
2)      Interest in and understanding the challenges and tasks of aging.
3)      Appreciation of how creative arts contribute to growth, insight, and
wellness.
4)      Experience with and ability to lead field trips.
5)      Availability at requested times – Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday from
1 PM – 3 PM.
