Call for Adult Artists with Aspergers Syndrome
Andy Warhol, Thomas Edison, and Albert Einstein are all thought to have had
Aspergers Syndrome (AS). Affected individuals usually have normal to
superior
intelligence, but sustained social impairments making traditional employment
difficult. AS is an innate neurological condition that promotes hyperfocus
on
intense interests. With supportscreativity and innovation can flourish.
Those
with AS may make remarkable works of art, and major contributions to our
world.
We are looking for works by artists over 18 years old, who have been
diagnosed with AS. Two dimensional art and small sculpture accepted. Works
available
for sale. No commission charged.
Submission deadline: June 15, 2007
Please submit by email to Kathy Clark at ktigheclark at aim,com, 617-491-0280.
The Art Committee of the Aspergers Association of New England will select
up
to three pieces from each artist. Framing will be provided.
There is no entry fee or framing fee.
Art will be exhibited in three locations:
· John Hancock Center, Boston, MA on September 28, 2007 during the
Aspergers Association Annual Conference with anticipated attendance of 800
-1000
people
· Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, Cambridge, MA for the month of
January 2008
· Honan-Allston branch of the Boston Public Library, Allston, MA for
the
month of May 2008.
