Thanks.

I am not only a high-brow culture lover nor am I a member of the best foot
forward club when it comes to Black images.
I do think we can do better.
I want this to be a discussion between the panelists and audience. Here are
my questions:
What films and other media images get black people right? Especially Black
males.
What films were just plain wrong?
What film images are offensive?
Do film images elevate or deflate?
Do film images teach?
Are we (meaning people of color) too sensitive about these things?
For feature films distributed through the Hollywood mechanism - what are the
reasons the roles are not more substantive and varied?
For independent films - why are the roles so caricatured/stereotypical?
Black men and women have this duality of being overtly-sexualized and
non-sexualized at the same time.
Where's romance and sensuality?
What films have shown interesting average working guy or woman?
What about the self-limits in terms of roles actors choose?
We expect comics to lean toward buffoonery but non-comics?
What about the racially ambiguous actors - where do they fit in?
Is it up to Black writers and directors and actors to get us right? Have
they?
Can white writers, directors ever get us right? Have they?
Please come and join in this interactive discussion. Thanks.
