The Dorchester Community Center for the Visual Arts (Dot Art) is opening a
new ceramics studio on Dorchester Avenue on the corner of Dot Ave and
Shepton Street, opposite Dot Art¹s storefront office and gallery space. The
Clay Station will be the home of Dot Art classes for people of all ages.
Currently Dot Art has two wheels (And we are looking to acquire more), two
electric kilns and four tables. We are still in need of shelving and stools.
 
Dot Art wishes to make The Clay Station studio accessible, open and useful
to as many Dorchester artists as possible, in addition to classes offered to
the general public. What we are imagining is a type of studio-rental
program.
 
We¹d like local Dorchester artists to also be involved in planning how the
studio is structured.  Dot Art will be scheduling a meeting for interested
artists within the next two weeks. This meeting will be an open forum to
gather information on local artists¹ needs and wishes with regard to the new
studio. If you would be interested in attending, please contact Magda
Spasiano at the Dot Art office as soon as possible.
 
Dot Art¹s pre-opening reception is this coming Saturday, January 5, 2008
from 10am to 5pm, during which time the studio will be open for free
children¹s workshops as we work to ready the studio for our Grand Opening!
Children must pre-register for the workshops, and must be accompanied by an
adult willing to volunteer some time in readying the studio for the grand
opening. To pre-register a child, please call the Dot Art office
