Peabody Square Public Art Meeting

The Peabody Square Public Art Project has entered a new planning phase, and
we're looking for new energy!  We're a small and tired committee, and would
really welcome some new input from our neighbors.  As you probably know, in
June, a committee, with the input of the neighborhood, chose artwork by
sculptor Joe Wheelwright, to be installed in the soon-to-be-redesigned
Peabody Square.  We are meeting with the Boston Arts Commission next week,
to tell them of our plans.  
 
The next phase is fundraising - and we need help to formulate a plan for
this. We have applied for a Browne Fund Grant from the City, and are hopeful
that they will award our request for $75,000.  We will need to raise an
additional $35-50,000 to complete the project.  We have hired a consultant
to help with this, and would like to reconstitute the Peabody Square Public
Art Committee to help her brainstorming about possible sources, and to help
plan a big unveiling event (timeline TBA).  
 
So whether you were a member of the selection committee last year, or would
like to now become involved in the process, join us Saturday, Feb. 24 at
10:00a.m. in the Community Room at the Codman Square Library (637 Washington
Street).  You will hear an update from Joe Wheelwright and other committee
members, about progress over the past months, and meet Becky Butler, who
will be helping us to raise the money to realize this ambitious project.
