Dear "community artist" 

The Harrington Elementary school in Lexington is seeking an Artist in 
Residence to work with staff and children on the creation of a hallway
mural.  The 
mural will adorn an 80' long hallway on the upper floor of the newly built 
Harrington school.   The school includes grades kindergarten through 5th
grade. 

The selected artist must be an experienced muralist with a proven ability to

work well with children.  The Artist in Residence will work in conjunction 
with the children and staff on both the thematic design of the mural as well
as 
painting the mural.   

This project is supported by the Harrington Mural Project Team as well as
the 
school's art teacher, Roberta Wehmeyer.  Themes under consideration include 
those involving social development, social consciousness and appreciation
for 
cultural diversity and community.   

If you are interested, please provide the following information: 

. Proposed budget for the project, broken down into materials and estimated 
number hours, including hourly rate.  Please give a time estimate for the 
project from start to finish.  
. Your availability  
. Ideas and/or approach on how you would develop the mural theme in 
conjunction with the students and staff as well as a general plan as to how
you would 
approach the painting of the mural 
. Current resume
