in a program including:

Maurice Ravel: Sonata for Violin & Cello
Bedrich Smetana: Piano Trio in G Minor, Op. 15;
Rebecca Clarke: Lullaby & Grotesque for Viola & Cello; and
Gabriela Lena Frank: Cinco Danzas de Chambi (2006) for viola & piano

About the Musicians: The musicians of Ashmont Hill, some of whom have been playing together since the
organization’s inception, are among Boston’s finest musicians, with other
affiliations as the Chair of the String Department of Boston University (Ms.
LaCourse), the Boston Symphony Orchestra (Ms. Bracken), a former member of the
Diabelli String Quartet (Brian Snow), and Rachel Goodwin (piano) is a performer,
a teacher, and a resident of Ashmont Hill who is committed to the community’s
cultural growth. “There was a lovely grace and bloom…good friends all from the sound of it,” (Patriot Ledger).

About the Program: Ravel piece is a dazzlingly virtuosic work intended to establish the greatness of French music once and
for all.Smetana's work is charged with personal grief over growing deafness and the death of a beloved daughter.
Rebecca Clarke's music has been called "among the very best of her time." The work of Gabriela Lena Frank
reflects her Peruvian-Jewish-Chinese heritage. The Cinco Danzas de Chambi is based on the work of
Peruvian photographer Martin Chambi and uses Peruvian folk music, evokes the sound of indigenous
instruments, and illustrates the culture in a striking and unique way. The program will feature each string
player in duo with piano as well as together in ensemble.

About the Hall: The acoustics of Peabody Hall are perfectly matched to the color of the stringed
instrument.
