Books of Hope (BOH) is a writing, literacy and performance program serving
at-risk, urban teens and young adults in Somerville and neighboring
communities. It increases essential reading, writing, public speaking, and computer
skills while developing self-expression and self-esteem. The program further
promotes social entrepreneurship through the publishing and sales of books
written by youth.
BOH is a collaboration of the Mystic Learning Center and Somerville Arts
Council, supported by Cahn Funds for Social Change, Dreuding Foundation, Hunt
Alternatives Fund, Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the Somerville Housing
Authority.
