SEEKING EVENT COORDINATOR 
 
Dorchester Open Studios seeks an Event Coordinator to produce its 2007 open
studios weekend. This is a part time position carrying a modest stipend.
Candidates should be available from June through the weekend-long, city-wide
artist-run open studio event in October 26 - 28, 2007.

Job description: manage the planning activities leading up to its 2007 open
studio event, including recruiting volunteers, directing marketing efforts,
overseeing the development and distribution of collateral materials,
directing a planning committee, communicating with participating artists,
planning a reception, liaising with 6-8 open studios sites and reporting to
the Dorchester Arts Collaborative Board of Directors. The Event Coordinator
is responsible for managing on a tight schedule and working within a budget
created with the Board. The Coordinator must also be willing to fundraise.
Candidates should be passionate about connecting artists with the public,
have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to recruit
and motivate volunteers. Experience in project management, fundraising and
event production is highly desirable.  Must have own cell phone and access
to a car. 

$2500 - 3500 stipend, commensurate with experience and track record.  Should
expect to spend approximately 5-15 hours/week to carry out duties over
5-month period. The bulk of the time commitment will occur August - October.
Must be available full days plus some evening hours October 25 - 28.
