Position Title: Director, Hyde Park Arts Initiative 

 

Organization Description 

The Hyde Park Arts Initiative is a unique coalition of artists, non-profits,

businesses and individuals that organize and support several cultural events

in Hyde Park annually, including the summer Artscene Festival and Open
Studios. 
 HPAI's goal is to promote the growing arts community in Hyde Park and 
utilize arts and cultural events to enhance the business center of Hyde
Park, 
Cleary/Logan Square.   Founded 3 years ago, HPAI has experienced incredible
growth 
and success in a very short time, so much so that HPAI was invited to
present 
as part of this year's Grantmakers in the Arts conference. Goals for HPAI 
include increasing community participation in current events and
programming, 
developing additional events and programs that help achieve the HPAI
mission, 
increasing publicity for HPAI and Partner organizations, continued
fundraising.

Position Summary 

HPAI seeks a Director to oversee the management and development of HPAI.  
This is a 30 hour per week position that requires attendance at meetings and

events during the evening and some weekends.  Work schedule is flexible. 

 

Management Responsibilities: 
Oversee annual Artscene Festival, afterschool art programs and related 
committees 
Cultivate sponsors and donors within the Hyde Park business community 
Identify appropriate grants, foundations, and other sources for funding 
Create and distribute monthly e-newsletter, calendar of events and press 
releases 
Market events 
Participate in monthly Partner meetings, budget committee meetings, and 
retreat 
Oversee HPAI interns
 

HPAI Development Responsibilities: 
Create enhanced awareness of HPAI throughout community 
Identify and cultivating new Partner organizations, business partners, 
collaborators, and volunteers 
Work with Partner's to create new events or programs that promote HPAI's 
mission
 

Qualifications 

We seek to identify a candidate for Director who: 
Can comfortably assume responsibility for raising funds sufficient to
support 
and grow operations; 
Has experience in some or all aspects of foundation/corporate grants, 
government grants and contracts, individual donor management and major
gifts; 
Can expand the Initiative's marketing and public relations efforts; creating

new community relationships and attracting new supporters.
Demonstrates an ability to work with coalitions and Boards of Directors 
Posses some experience with fiscal management, budget development,
monitoring 
and financial oversight 
Possesses program development, design and management experience 
Has excellent communication skill both written and verbal 
Has demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse partners and 
stakeholders 
 

Ideally, the Director will have an affiliation with Hyde Park and/or live 
within close proximity. The Director will report to the Lead Partner,
Southwest 
Boston Community Development Corporation.  

 

Compensation: 

Salary commensurate with experience.  Benefits negotiable.  HPAI/SWBCDC is
