Subject: Breast Cancer Awareness at Stitch House
I have tried really hard to not do more than 2 emails a month. I know how annoying they can be. But I've been thinking and this can't wait until next week (when I send the April newsltter) I appologize for those of you offended - for everyone else I think you might find this to be an interesting activity to particpate in.
Danita (a wonderful woman & customer) is planning an event at Stitch House to fundraise for her walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Research. I was talking with her and the group taking Katie's color class this weekend about what else I could do to help raise money for this cause. Most of my customers are women - the men I have are great! and one cause that is so dear to our hearts is Breast Cancer and the prevention and treatment of it. It also affects men.
Anyhow we came up with what I think is a fantastic idea - April and May I'm going to cancel my NICU hat nights and replace them with pink ribbon nights. Folks are welcome to come in and knit or sew pink ribbons which we'll put on pins. After I'll sell them in the shop and ALL the funds (that's 100%) will go to anyone who is a customer of Stitch House and walking in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. Those who are walking - I need to know so I can make sure to list you and our customers will know who will get the funds. Just before the walk I'll make a donation in each of your names from all the sales.
Our first ribbon night will be TOMORROW night - FRIDAY, April 11 from 6-8 at Stitch House. Please bring needles and any spare PINK yarn you have. We'll have yarn and needles for you to use (but bring your own if you have them). If you can't come we'll take ones you make on your own and display them with the others. Later in the month we'll do a sewn ribbon pin too.
I have just over 600 customers on my "list". I hope we can make 600 ribbons between now and October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Thank you and Happy Knitting/Crocheting/Sewing!
Annissa
