Dear Friends, Neighbors and Artists:

I invite you to be part of an exciting art movement that is taking place
right now in Dorchester. You won't find this movement in galleries, studios,
museums or coffee shops. This movement is taking place in front of your
eyes, where everyone can witness it, young and old, black and white, rich
and poor. This is a street art movement. And it is for everyone.

Before you make any judgments, please know that this particular street art
movement, called "dot aht," does not support the breaking of laws or the
destruction of property. We also have no relation to the well-known Dot Art,
and apologize for any confusion. The purpose of this art movement is to
create dialog and to reinvigorate the creative spirit in all the
neighborhoods of Dorchester. It is part of an effort to put Dorchester on
the cover of the Globe for its art and not for its crime.

For the past three years I have been living in Dorchester, working as a
graphic designer, and studying for my masters degree. My thesis focuses on
the use of art and design to invoke community activism and bring about
positive social change. "dot aht" is only one piece of my project, and I
hope you will be a part of it.

Please visit the website at http://www.dotaht.com to find out more about the
project, how you can be a part of it, and tips for creating your own street
art project. Street art can be something very simple that you create in a
matter of hours. It can be as simple as a stencil or as complex as a video
projection. My goal is to have at least a dozen artists contributing to this
project by April, so start creating (and taking pictures!).

Most important, please forward this email to anyone you know who might be
interested in this movement. You do not have to live here to be a part of
it, but the art does have to be on display in Dorchester. Feel free to email
dotaht at gmail.com if you have any questions.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to seeing some movement,
