Please see below (and attached flyer) for details of an upcoming juried art
show at the Arnold Arboretum to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Lilac
Sunday.

We would appreciate it if you could send this information to your members
and, if possible, post the attached flyer in a public space associated with
your organization. Sheryl White, artist and Arboretum staff member, passed
along your name and email to me, she sends her greetings and adds her hopes
to mine that this show will attract many of our talented local artists.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS

Lilacs-Visions of Spring
April 12-May 18, 2008

To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Lilac Sunday (May 11, 2008), the
Arnold Arboretum is hosting a juried group art exhibition devoted to the
lilac in all its splendor. Artists of various media are invited to submit
work inspired by lilacs or the lilac collection of the Arnold Arboretum for
display in the Hunnewell Building Lecture Hall. 

Submission Requirements

Selecting Your Art:  
Art submitted for consideration should be inspired by lilacs or the lilac
collection at the Arnold Arboretum. Art must be two-dimensional,
appropriately framed, and ready-to-hang with attachments on the rear of the
art to accommodate picture wire. 
The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University reserves the right to refuse any
piece of artwork for any reason. A juror (to be announced) will evaluate all
submissions. Submission does not imply acceptance.

Submission Package:
Your package should include a CD with one image per submission (up to five)
and one form for each submission. Submissions without a form will not be
considered. Label images on the CD. Include a self-addressed, stamped mailer
if you would like the CD returned. Do not send original art.

All submissions must be received by February 25, 2008. 

Decisions will be announced March 7. 
Accepted works must be dropped off April 6 (1-3 pm) or April 7 (10 am-noon).
