Subject: Arts Inclusion Roundtable
Hi,
I am reaching out for participants in our roundtable on inclusion in arts
activities in youth programs.
I am hoping that your organization or individual artists can be part of this
year's roundtable on inclusion within arts activities for out-of-school
programs. This year, we are having a shorter session and are looking for
panelists who can talk about inclusion, their program, and give suggestions
to the field about how to make connections to a wide audience of learners in
the arts.
Our Arts Roundtable, The Art of Inclusion, will be at the Citizen School
headquarters April 3 10Am -12PM. I am still filling out the agenda, but we
plan for an activity, a panel, and then a large group discussion or other
activity.
We expect to provide resources - printed materials, flyers, and
informational packets and looking to engage the field in learning new
strategies for practitioners.
Our expected outcome is that programs have raised awareness on how inclusion
is something all programs can offer rather than something certain programs
do.
Thanks,
Peter Griffin

Lead to Opportunities for Youth with Disabilities (LOYD) is an
initiative to enhance the quality of after school environments through
inclusion of students with disabilities. This roundtable promotes the goals
of LOYD and focuses on how arts activities and projects are a fundamental
aspect of positive out-of-school environments.
When: 10AM - 12PM Thursday, April 3rd
Where: Citizen Schools Headquarters:
308 Congress Street, Boston, MA
Research has shown that inclusion of students with disabilities is something
out-of-school environments are situated to do well. Out-of-school time has
flexibility in schedule and structure as well as the potential to bring in
artists and community members to foster creative minds and develop skills.
Arts are important for all. Our goal is to include everyone in this aspect
of out-of-school time.
