You can make All the Difference to artists with physical disabilities
The Boston Home invites area artists to submit two-dimensional artwork for panel review for its annual art exhibition and sale: 5th Annual At Home with the Arts. June 6th – June 8th 2008.
BRING: as many as three (3) two-dimensional works not exceeding 32" x 32", ready for hanging to The Boston Home, 2049 Dorchester Ave.
WHEN: or Tuesday, May 27th or Wednesday, May 28th from 4-7 p.m. [Thurs. May 29th by appointment] for registration/drop off. Registration forms are available by emailing: frawls at thebostonhome.org. All artwork will be stored in a secure room.
THE JURY PANEL including Meredith Rockwell, art consultant from Art Boston, Inc. and painter, Elizabeth Colburn-Moraites will meet Wednesday, June 4th. All selected works will be for sale. Artists will be notified if their work has been selected.
ALL ARTISTS PRE-REGISTERED by May 24th will be invited as guests to a Jazz & Wine Preview Reception hosted by The Boston Home Trustees and Friends on Friday, June 6th 6:00-8:00 pm. $35 ticket price for non-exhibiters. Artwork sells well at this exhibition; buyers are highly motivated to support The Boston Home.
FREE COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE: Sunday, June 8th from 1-5. An area will be provided for cards, small reprints, and small 2-dimensional works not subject to the 3 piece limit. Please provide a list with prices for these pieces not subject to jury review.
THE DEAL: The Boston Home will keep 50% of all sale proceeds to benefit the residents of The Boston Home through the Arts, Entertainment and Outings program. The artists will keep the remaining 50% of the sale proceeds.
The exhibition will be widely publicized. A feature is slated for the Sunday, June 1st issue of the Globe.
ALL ARTWORK not sold must be retrieved on Sunday, June 8th after the exhibition ends at 5:30 p.m.

The residents of The Boston Home look forward to welcoming their neighbors to this community celebration of the arts. There will be live musical entertainment. Old-fashioned strawberry shortcake and lemonade will be served in the garden (weather permitting). Last year more than 500 people visited our "Garden Gallery" during the exhibition and sale weekend.
Founded in 1881, The Boston Home is a sustaining community for adults with advanced Multiple Sclerosis and other progressive neurological diseases. It was designated “Center for Excellence in Long Term Care” by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2007..
The Boston Home is the only facility of its kind in New England and one of only a few in the United States. The Boston Home Institute advances standards for care through research and education. The Boston Home Outpatient Services provide therapeutic and social programs for outpatients. The Boston Home provides watercolor classes and a photography program for residents and outpatients. Staff at the Boston Home have developed innovative adaptive technologies to allow these artists, all of whom have extremely limited mobility, to express themselves freely..
